Weidun®LQ001 creates a fully bonded, joint-free waterproofing layer that adapts to irregular surfaces and difficult detailing zones. Unlike sheet membranes that necessitate overlapping seams, this liquid-applied polyurethane coating forms a continuous elastic barrier that can seal corners, pipe penetrations flashing details, and curved surfaces with precision. Its high crack-bridging ability and exceptional elongation make it ideal for structures exposed to movement, vibration, and thermal expansion.
Weidun®LQ0001 is used to create a seamless waterproofing barrier on roofs, balconies, water tanks, seafood pools, and complex structural details such as corners, pipe penetrations, and curved surfaces. Its high elasticity and crack-bridging performance make it ideal for structures subject to movement, thermal expansion, and harsh climate exposure.
Applying solvent-free polyurethane lining in a water tank involves surface preparation, primer application, multi-coat application, curing, and final testing. The concrete substrate must be cleaned, repaired, and pre-wetted to SSD condition, followed by a compatible primer to seal pores and boost adhesion. The solvent-free PU, mixed at a 1:1 ratio, is then applied in 2–3 coats to reach the required dry film thickness (typically 1.5–2.0 mm), with each coat allowed to tack off before the next. The system cures at ambient temperature for 7 days to achieve full mechanical and chemical resistance, after which a 24-hour water-tightness test is carried out to confirm leak-proof performance prior to commissioning.

As a flexible membrane, solvent-free polyurethane (PU) offers superior elasticity, tensile strength, and corrosion resistance compared to rigid cementitious coatings. This makes it the preferred choice for potable water applications subject to structural movement or requiring critical crack-bridging capabilities. While polyurethane comes at a higher initial material cost, choosing between PU and cementitious systems requires EPC contractors and project owners to weigh upfront CAPEX against long-term performance and lifecycle value.
Expert-Insight
Clean and grind the concrete substrate. Repair honeycombs and cracks. Pre-wet the surface to saturated-surface-dry (SSD) condition.
Apply a compatible epoxy or PU primer to seal pores and enhance adhesion.
Mix the solvent-free PU at a 1:1 ratio. Apply in 2–3 coats (by trowel or spray) to reach the specified DFT (typically 1.5–2.0 mm). Allow each coat to become tack-free before applying the next.
Allow the system to cure at ambient temperature for 7 days for full mechanical and chemical resistance.
Perform a 24‑hour water-tightness test before commissioning.
